Play Store app has wrong email

Hi everyone

Getting annoyed with technology again and wondering if you can help.

Just spend the last half an hour trying to get into the Play Store on my android phone, so that I can download the instagram app.

The problem is the play store has a different gmail email address for me showing up to the one I know, I must have set up a couple by accident......to be honest, I don't want ANY gmail email because (and I don't fully understand all this and feel free to correct me), I feel google invades people's privacy too much.....

but anyway, I have a gmail email sat there, and although it gives the option of adding another account, it doesn't do anything when I click for that option (surprise surprise)....

Is there any way to uninstall the play store and then reinstall and hope the darn thing will allow me to use the one gmail email I know and want to use even though I don't want to use gmail at all!! :mad:

While we're on the subject, anyone able to explain in simple language what is going on with google recording your voice and conversations? Is that only if you've been using google accounts? Or is it in general?

yes G******e are far too intrusive, fact. Anyway, if you go to the play store, settings, and add the acct you do know., you may be able to sort it like that...

On your phone go to settings , then accounts add a new one or sync the original one... you need to be connected to the web

Create an account with fake details and create the gmail address and just never ever use it again. Sorted.

Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately it only wants my password for the gmail email I'm supposed to have on the phone, but I've no idea what the password is for it. When I offer another email for it to send the password to, it says google cannot verify that it's my email.

Somehow I need to wipe off that email account, but everything I'm trying isn't working.

Thanks I think that's what I did at the start, but now I need a gmail email address to use Instagram.....unless anyone can tell me differently.

(and the email address I've got on my phone, I don't know the password for, it won't send a new one to any email address I give it, and I can't wipe it off my phone...)

Try using fotgot my password on play store from a browser , it should send a text to the phone

There are other app stores apart from Google play - a quick Google (sorry!) should find other ways to get the instagram app

I am seriously NOT a fan of google, I can't get a text message, but thanks for the suggestion debitcardmayhem.

I attempted to sign in to my 'other' email address as well and google is saying the password, which I have written in front of me from this morning is wrong. It then asks for an email address to send a code to, i give it one, it sends the code, I type the code in and it says it's wrong.

Reset your phone to factory settings and start over would be the simplest solution.:)
Get over the paranoia about Google and either learn how to control your privacy and security in their settings or periodically go in and delete all that has been saved concerning your activity.
While you are at it, get rid of your smart phone, your bank/credit card, your store card etc. Get rid of your library card, don't use any social media or email. Stop driving a car and stay away from any city centre/store CCTV areas.;)
