Fence line query

Logic does indeed not seem to be coming into it at that sort of price per square foot and for such a tiny amount of land. Basically they bought what they saw - and I stick to thinking "Let them disguise the look of it on their side" and that should be enough to satisfy looks considerations.
If it goes on beyond you telling them they can disguise the look of it if they like - then (for the sake of that tiny amount of space and with the way the fence has been there donkeys years/was there when they bought it) then there has got to be some sort of "power game" going on here too.
If that's the case - then I've found the best way to deal with that is an attitude that spells out quite clearly "You are one household/I am one household. Both households are totally equal" and then have nothing whatsoever to do with them.0 -
Got home from work and spoke to the builder again, and the neighbour has tried to be sneaky and asked the neighbours the other side of him how long the fence has been there and what was there before the current fence.
Turns out he looked a massive !!!! when the builder who was in the garden at the time, overheard him asking and getting the response "atleast 20 years, my son was in nappys when the previous owner built the outbuilding and the fence went up then" so he has now told the builder to leave it where it is as I have been "sweet talking the neighbours" the outcome so far is our fence stays where it is, untouched. And he is having his own fence put up, thus reducing his garden size even more.
I think it was a case of he wanted to get his own way as we are a young (ish) couple and thought he could walk all over us, turns out doing things by the book and keeping calm through it all has annoyed him even more :-)0 -
What's the builder doing? From your account, he's been hanging around in your neighbour's garden for two or three days now, waiting to be instructed to move the fence! He's always there when you get home, he's around to overhear neighbours' conversations...Bristolminimad wrote: »Got home from work and spoke to the builder again, and the neighbour has tried to be sneaky and asked the neighbours the other side of him how long the fence has been there and what was there before the current fence.

Still, it looks like it's ended reasonably for you, although I'd be wary of a couple of things. Firstly, your neighbour has a very indiscreet builder. Are you sure he's being honest with you because he's hardly been acting in your neighbour's interest! Secondly, if your neighbour is annoyed, beware future pettiness because he sounds the type who might seek revenge of some sort in the future. As you'll see on here, neighbour disputes rarely end well.0 -

.
I wondered about that too...'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0
