Raised garden due to drainage

Hi all,
Posted this in gardening section initially but have asked to move it.
We had patio in our garden and we decided we would like artificial grass, so I took up the slabs and cleared the concrete underneath. As we are lower than road level at the back we knew drainage maybe an issue but the company who was going to install it said it should be ok once built up a little.
However, when they started and out down sand and stone dust they have basically said it wouldn't suitable so I now have a garden of sand and stone dust. See pic:

The ground is a little wet still and in one area it is mushy. One thing I was wondering was if I could build it up to have like a raised bed but lay artificial grass on top? So it would be something like this but not as high...

This would then be deep enough for the water to drain a little more?
Really appreciate any advice
Darren

What were you planning to build it up. you're going to need a lot of it.0

It wouldn't be as high as the picture, I was just thinking a small sleeper boundary, with sub base, and then stone dust or sand.0
