Nothing to eat pre-op

My kittens are off to the vets to be spayed on Monday morning.

I was told when I booked them in that they should have 'nothing' from 8pm the night before (their appointment is 9am). However I'm now wondering if that just means nothing to eat, or nothing to drink either?

I've always been told nothing to eat after 8 and nothing to drink after 10-12 it's just so they have empty stomachs so less chance of vomiting and choking during the op

That's what I've always been told too.

Be careful they don't find their own food .... I worked where they did animal research once and they'd put the pigs into a pen ready for their op the next day - but they'd managed to find/nibble some straw.... and one exploded on the operating table.
