Sitting water in slimline dishwasher

we inherited a dishwasher when we moved house and have used it for 3 years, am guessing its a few years older than that though. Emptied it this morning and theres a greasy 'film' over the glasses and cutlery, i cleaned the waste trap filter like i did a few months ago (was advised on here when I asked previously), but when i removed it this time, the hole it sits in had water in it? Was a murky off white colour, so am guessing its not draining away fully? Any ideas/tips how to clear this please?

My newish dishwasher has some standing water in the waste trap, so I don't think that's a problem. It sounds as if the whole thing needs a bit of a de-grease. Run it on the hottest wash it will do, full program but empty, with some soda crystals in it. That should shift the grease. Soda crystals can be bought from Wilkinsons for £1 a bag.
Oh, and clean your waste filter regularly. "A few months" is far too long and is probably the source of your problems. Do it once a week. Only takes a couple of minutes.0 -
Or alternatively buy these and use them regularly:-

These are ok as a maintenance thing, but they're not strong enough if the machine is properly gummed up.Or alternatively buy these and use they regularly:-
