How much to fix a wedding ring?

Options
A few months ago my wife broke her arm and they had to remove her wedding and engagement rings. The wedding ring had to be cut off and just wondered if anyone else has had to have a ring removed/cut off and needed repairing and how much that is please.
I no longer work for Natwest, I left in 2012. But i can't change my name..

what's it made of, white gold, yellow gold, platinum, something else??
    Is it chunky or slim?
Frankly it would be easiest to go to a jeweller's and ask. Choose one that has their own workshop for repairs rather than send them away, for best vfm.

That is going to involve so many variables ... what the ring is made of, whether you've got all the bits (never had one cut off so don't know if anything might get lost!), whether you want it re-made the same size.

It's also going to depend on the jewelers. I'd start by phoning a few to see if you can get some ball park figures, but I wouldn't be surprised to be told I'd have to take it in!
Signature removed for peace of mind

    And is it patterned?
The OP's question is a bit like 'how long is a piece of string?'.

    Definitely agree with this.
We have 2 independent jewellers in our town who I'd take something like this to.

Don't bother with any of the big chains, use a local who can repair themselves. Check your household insurance to see if it will cover this.

If you find a good independent jeweller it shouldn't cost too much, certainly not enough to bother with insurance.

I had an 18ct ring resized and the mount completely changed for less than £100.
