Hello moneyexperts,
Help in the form of self- awareness needed here I think. Essentially my relationship with money and thus my finances are deeply unhealthy- I seem to have a feast/famine approach to cash (and everything else to be honest) and consistently try to keep up with my friends who are also in lots of debt (which is madness!) Anyway my debts are ;
Overdraft- 600
Cc- 600
This, I know, is small compared to lots of other diaries I've been reading, but this number has been the same- occasionally going up- for the last year, and although I feel young, I realise at 27 perhaps am not as youthful as I'm pretending to be. This is resulting in quite a bit on panicky thought. I realise that mostly I spend my money on eating out, groceries, and pointless tiny expensive luxuries that I don't need- scented candles, farmers markets, homewares, roses. It's ridiculous, I'm not a pensioner yet. Oh, and failing to master driving in any way whatsoever is also an expense. The trouble, beyond my extravagance, is that I don't seem to have much to play with in terms of income..Anyway hopefully my diary will act as tool to FINALLY get myself sorted.
K bye.

    Try and have a Spending Free Day once a week

    Live off what you have in stock in your kitchen cupboards and deep freeze for a week

    Do you manage to clear your CC every month ?
    Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • Thanks for your words of encouragement guys-
    No, I never pay my cc off in full every month. Usually a couple of hundred, and then back it all goes. This month I had paid off the full grand and a half by plunging myself into the depths of my OD but figuring it was worth it to be rid of the thing, when my boyfriend went and lost both HIS and MY cashcards, so all the holiday expenses went on my CC. Sigh.
    Anyway, today was ok.
    I spent £10 pounds on ice cream
    £5 snacks
    Potentially could do rather better than that..
  • Ok, so time for some more financial reflection. The last few days have been ok momeywise. I have spent 30 pounds on a new pillow, and a cushion (non-essentials). It also looks like I will be buying the shopping against this week as OH still hasn't sorted out/ received a new cash card... my monzo balance is looking very depleted.
    I'm also going to have to get the train into work soon to do some bits, which I have been avoiding as it's the school holidays. Andddd... my third wedding this summer Ian coming up. For the last few I have worn odds and ends and reworn old dresses, but this one Ian going to be a big one, with a lot of competitive and gorgeous ladies- I think a new dress might be in order. I have already ordered some shoes (eBay so sort of saving. Right? Right?!)
    Plus side made 10 jars of jam and an apple pie from windfall apples. Probably cost the same as a new dress... xx
