Self level part of a floor

We currently have plans to tile the whole ground floor. However, there is a section between the utility room and the hall way that crosses over the kitchen.
My question is, can I part self-level that one part of the kitchen? As we are not quite ready to start ripping the kitchen apart or have decided what kitchen we want.
I was thinking of setting up a simple barricade to stop the compound spreading the whole kitchen.
Can you advise me if this is wise or if it can be done a different way?
Thanks,
