Nationwide FlexOne account:

Second the FlexOne, as you can keep it until you're 26 and can use the card abroad entirely without fees. No other debit card with a UK current account is available for that; adults have to get a credit card like Halifax Clarity to get fee free use abroad.0

Ditto Nationwide. Seamless upgrade to Student Account which is the way to go if your sprog has aspirations to spend a year abroad on his/her degree, inter-railing etc.Ethical moneysaver0

I would recommend actually not upgrading, but opening a separate FlexStudent, as you can then keep your FlexOne for several years after graduation and still have the foreign transaction benefit.0
