airport car parking

Hi everyone

I'd value some advice about how best to proceed with my complaint. I searched for car parking at Manchester Airport with the website compareparkingdeals.uk and booked carparkmanchester.co.uk. I was requested to call a 24/7 phone number 20 minutes before arrival at the airport for the car to be collected.

The problem was that carparkmanchester never answer my multiple calls. I ended up having to park at the multistorey car park, which was expensive.

After complaining, compareparkingdeals.uk refunded the original car park charge that I paid for the collection service. However, both compareparkingdeals.uk and carparkmanchester.co.uk refuse to refund the multistorey car park charge. Carparkmanchester.co.uk argue that I arrived to my booking late. However, there is nothing in their terms and conditions stating that my booking is invalid is I'm not on time.

Would you have any advice about what should I do next? I've now googled the reviews, and realised that this has happened to other people. I should have googled them before I booked the car park, but I used them in good faith. How to ensure that this doesn't happen to anyone again? For me now, it is less about the parking charge and mostly that I don't want other people to be conned!

Many thanks
Rita

  • You were refunded for the original fee but now want the fee you ''had'' to buy refunding too?

So you want the parking for free?

OP should get the difference between the price she booked and the price she paid. That's if there was nothing in the Ts and Cs about late arrival. Though surely the point of the 20min pre arrival call is for precise timing for a driver to meet her?

Also have a good read of the Cheap Airport Parking guides here - so you are forearmed with choices in the future.

I travel at least once a month and I don't bother with major airports or airport parking anymore. I use a provincial airport (Southampton) instead of Heathrow and travel to the airport by train. Costs, as well as stress levels are much reduced as a result.

That works fine if there are flights to your intended destination. I try to use Bournemouth or Southampton, where possible, due to the much more pleasant experience. However, sometimes I need to travel to a larger airport. In these cases, I often rent a drive or hotel car parking space, at a fraction of the airport parking prices.
