Hi All
I've been reading thru http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/stocks-shares-isas and based on the article was leaning towards Charles Stanley direct however after doing a quick comparison on http://www.comparefundplatforms.com/compareresults.aspx it looks like iWEB will have the lowest charges, looks like £25 to open account and £5 dealing charge.
I'll probably do 2 trades a year and primarily looking at holding a couple of investment trusts and a fund, value of 10 - 20k, I do my research on Trustnet so shouldnt need bells and whistles on the platform itself.
Would you guys recommend iWeb? to me it seems the best value unless i'm missing something, it'll be my first account so advice would be appreciated

I am a happy customer. It's not quite as user-friendly as HL (for example a fund on HL might be called "Fidelity Index US" but on iWeb it'll only be listed as "FIL INV SVCS UK INDEX US"). That just gets you to double-check things before you invest so it's no bad thing.0

'Best value' doesn't necessarily equate to 'cheapest' of course - I have an iWeb account myself and am happy with it but am aware that its range may be more limited than some other brokers, so, for example, it doesn't offer the L&G multi-asset funds that are available elsewhere.
If you have specific investments in mind you might find it worthwhile verifying with them that they offer them before jumping in....0 -
I use it and have yet to have a problem.0

I use iWeb and its my first account. I am happy with their service so far.0

iWeb is only good if you don't buy or sell very often. Or if you do often trade it's with very large amounts.0

No complaints from me about iWeb.
Just be sure to check the funds you want are available.0 -
Fine for me, saved a fortune in fees compared to YouInvest. I buy and keep so do not change around very often, unless underperformance becomes chronic after a long time. It is worth telling them if a fund is not available, I did once and a couple of weeks later it appeared in their lists.0

I’ve been with iweb since April. Couldn’t be happier. Just make sure you don’t trade too often. Those £5’s add up. I add my quarterly bonus, so just 4 trades a year going forward into vanguard Lifestrategy 80.0

I've been using Iweb for several years now, with no problem.
It wouldn't be good for small monthly investments, but it's great for buy and hold lump sums.Eco Miser
