Hi,
On starting up the computer today it started emitting a high pitched noise, would only load as far as the intial windows start up page and lights 1,2,3 were lit up on the processor front.
I hit f12 just to get it doing something, after I came out of the system set up (didn't change anything) the comp has loaded fine
The dell is the comp I work on so I dont want to risk it impoding (been there with an HP that just shut down, they couldn,t even access the hard drive)
ETA, I just restarted the comp and found the same response, again I managed to get the computer to load by going through the system set up without changing anything.
Any advice on what could be wrong, or what I should do would be appreciated!
Thanks.

could possibly be the bios battery failing
not the end of the world and cheap/easy to replace

Thanks browntoa,
I will have a look at bios tech bits, all the display lights are showing green so I think thats a good sign for the main comp? If its too difficult I will pop it into the village shop tomorrow, I cant isk that comp as it's running software I need thats not compatible with the vista on this one.0 -
