It'll never reach 50C indoors, because as the temp differential increases, so does the rate of heat loss. Unless you can wait a few decades for global warming to do the job for you...

I managed to get my bedroom up to 40 once by forgetting to turn a pair of convector heaters off. It must be possible to reach 50 if you keep on adding a bit more power input, even if the returns are diminishingly small each time. I wouldn't want to be paying the bill for that lot though, and from a safety point of view it doesn't sound like a wise experiment to try.

It is also important to note that the 40 degrees was the air temperature only - objects in the room and the walls/floor/ceiling were at a much lower temperature, and to get something like a matress up to 50 degrees right through would take a long time.

Think of it like cooking a large joint of meat, the oven air temperature is high, but it takes time for the heat to penetrate to the centre of the meat.

Well leave it like that for a year and problem (if there is one) solved :)

Btw, most sites seem to indicate bed bugs can only survive 2-3 months, perhaps 5 at most, without eating.
Only Rentokil appear to suggest they will survive a year, and yes, you've guessed it, Rentokill can help you eradicate them ... and your wallet contents :(

However, being cold blooded, they may last up to a year if you keep the room cold enough. Have you got any air conditioning in there to assist their survival?

Or if you need a quicker solution, assuming one is actually needed, get the room fumigated (as you'll be sealing it anyway, you say)
Thanks for that, interesting. I dont trust rentakill and know they are often very expensive.

The room unfortunately is cold, but I'm wondering if I bag up the mattress for a year after pouring on the dust to kill them and just leave them if they might all go away.

Then again I'm not even sure if I have any, no signs yet. Im wondering if I should sleep in there for a night to see if i get bitten or if any signs of them in there..

Surely it's not impossible to heat a room up to 50c, that's one of the treatments to rid yourself of them anlthough that is often with specalist equipment.

I'm hoping for another really hot heatwave if I do go down this route.
