Wowcher - REFUND on Card not in Credits

Hi,
We bought a computer voucher off wowcher. It was for my mum in law so she paid for it on her Debit Card.
The computer arrive lasted one day then it had the BLUE screen of death!
They picked up the computer and have it back but gave me a refund in Wowcher credits which we don't want. We bought it on a Debit Card so want it refunding to my mum in laws debit card. We have now had our fingers burnt by buying electronic good via wowcher and want to get the computer from a reputable shop.
Where do I stand?

Thanks

No. You bought a Wowcher voucher then used that as the payment method with the seller. The seller has followed their legal obligation (The Money Laundering Regulations 2007) in refunding to the same method of payment.
  • It's actually a great scam.

Find a company selling a cheap and nasty copy of something that sells well e.g. for £100. Offer them 25% of the price of the real stuff. Offer to sell vouchers to the gullible at "50% off retail"

When the customer complains and wants a refund give him more vouchers for other overpriced tat.

    Win/win for the voucher company
    Lose/lose for the gullible

What you have done is the same as buying a gift voucher and then spending the gift voucher on an item so any refund would be back to the same method you paid by which is gift voucher.

I would actually disagree (like I've never done that before! :rotfl:).

I've never used wowcher myself but have seen someone else order from it twice and in both instances I'm positive they didn't purchase wowcher credits - they purchase a voucher for xyz item. Therefore refunding in wowcher credits is not refunding OP by the same method of payment.

Plus, given the voucher would have been for the specific goods ordered (at least going by current deals they have). I'd say its a linked contract and therefore should have been rescinded when the contract for the computer was.
