Backpacker/long term travel insurance - Residency requirements

Usually backpacker insurance requires that you have been in the UK for 6 months of the previous year. Wording varies but 6 months / 180 days is included in all the ones I've checked.
Does anyone know insurance companies that doesn't have this requirement or requires less time in the UK?

I strongly recommend you ignore everything I say. Investments can go up as well as down, and is purely gambling

Surely I haven't got people stumped with this one?I strongly recommend you ignore everything I say. Investments can go up as well as down, and is purely gambling0

Have you tried Direct Line?
General Assumptions
Everyone insured under the policy is a resident of the United Kingdom
Cover is only available for trips that haven't yet started when cover is purchased, and that both start and end in the United Kingdom
There are no known reasons why anyone would need to cancel or curtail the journey
Nobody insured under this policy has had any insurance cancelled or declared void by an insurer
Health Assumptions
Nobody to be insured under this policy:
Is currently taking or should be taking prescribed medication for an existing condition
Is currently suffering from or has suffered from a heart condition (including heart attack) or cancer related condition
Is awaiting a medical investigation, surgery or treatment
Is suffering from any other medical condition0 -

That was looking promising for a moment, then I read:
"Age and residency
To be covered under this policy, you must be a resident of the UK. This means you must spend at least 6 months of any 12 month period in the UK"I strongly recommend you ignore everything I say. Investments can go up as well as down, and is purely gambling0 -
That's different from your first query.
Which insurers have you tried?0 -

Where they say 6 months of 12 it's basically the same as what I quoted in the Op. Insurers sometimes word it differently but it's basically you need to be in the UK for 6 months in the last year or the last 6 months. What I'm looking for with a policy that may allow less time such as 4 months.
I've tried a few from the top of the list using moneysupermarket.comI strongly recommend you ignore everything I say. Investments can go up as well as down, and is purely gambling0 -
I read it differently. DL say you have to be a UK resident and then explain what a UK resident is. They don't say 6 months out of the last 12.scubascuba3 wrote: »Where they say 6 months of 12 it's basically the same as what I quoted in the Op. Have a look at the policy document, unfortunately they quote what I said further up.
