Cost to repair coil springs?

Front or rear makes a difference, as does suspension design - comparing your bill to someone else's makes little sense, as yours may have been a lot easier or more difficult.
As above, scratch the tyres from your bill as they're irrelevant - they'd have been needed MOT or not.0 -
I watched a youtube video the other day where 2 guys put coilovers on all corners in 15 minutes flat.0

Oh dear, are the schools not back yet ?
It's not a particularly difficult job if you know what you're doing, have the right tools, and everything goes perfectly by the book. But 4 corners in 15 minutes is a tad optimistic.
Still, if it's on t'interweb it must be true.0 -

I read your original post as £800 including the tyres.kittennose wrote: »The tyres cost £100 the MOT invoice was £800...
Now, about which springs and whether the rear wheels on your A3 are driven or not - because that makes a BIG difference to the amount of work involved.0 -
Did you get an Invoice, with a costs breakdown? Labour at £300 could well be (£30/hour x 10 hours.) What is not generally known, is that a "Labour Charge" is not strictly just the labour of the mechanics and therefore their wages, but also includes workshop overheads. The actual charge per hour, is a closely guarded secret in most garages. Think about it: if a competitor knows what one garage charges, they can undercut.
This is a lesson: if a customer needs work which requires possible high expense, the customer is entitled to request a written quote. NOT an 'estimate' - a quote.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Is that in case your parents catch you watching it?0 -

5 hours at £60, inc VAT, is far more likely. What is not generally known, is that a "Labour Charge" is not strictly just the labour of the mechanics and therefore their wages, but also includes workshop overheads.
I think most people bar the terminally clueless are perfectly well aware of that. The actual charge per hour, is a closely guarded secret in most garages.
No, it's clearly on almost every invoice.0 -
Trade discounts can be massive. Peugeot 207 clutch kit from euro car parts -Valeo £190, I got a trade discount on a Sachs kit (better quality) and got it for £72. Trade can get up to 40%+ on partsOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0
