Myparkingcharge through lease company

Hi all

Sorry for starting a new thread on this, but seems this will be a little different to usual as I’ve received a parking charge for a company car in business time.

The parking charge notice was sent to the lease company who have forwarded on email to myself.

I’ve spoken to the lease company who we have our company cars through and they have told me they have responded to the company stating that I was the driver giving my details.

I asked why they had done this and they advised it is their terms and conditions as they used to simply pay the fines and chase the money back from the driver and they don’t want to get dragged into cases between drivers and these companies.

The woman I spoke to said don’t believe the hype that you don’t have to pay these, said they are now enforceable and it will end up in court.

Will the company now write directly to me? What are the next steps?

Thanks all in advance and again sorry for making another post as I’m not sure what route to go down now they have disclosed that I am the driver.

Have you read the thread that asks Newbies to read it first? It's at the top of this forum. I suspect if you read it you will find the answers to all those questions.

Which parking company has issued the PCN?

Are other people insured to drive the vehicle?

Yea I have read, it gives advice how to deal with on the NTK, but it doesn’t say how to deal with/address the letter if you have been named as the driver by the leasing company.

Other people can use the car but wouldn’t really wash as other people who need to use company cars already have one.
  • The lease company could not possibly know for sure who was driving; they can only pass on details of the "hirer".

Private Parking Companies trawl this forum - you must edit all of your posts to remove any clues as to the identity of the driver.

VCS do take cases to Court - you need to make sure that yours is not one of them.

Did you miss the bit that starts

If the hire/lease co gets a postal PCN and names you as the driver/hirer,

As Edna Basher points out you have been named as the keeper. Unless the lease company saw you driving, or impose a condition that only you can drive the vehicle then they cannot say you were driving. For all they know it could have been me driving, my insurance covers me.

No, like I said I read that post, it says if the lease company name you as the driver then to follow the steps above with regards to the letter to send.

Yet the letter template says signed as the keeper and not the driver.

I understand that as the registered keeper (ie named on the logbook) and that as they have named me as the driver, I was asking what would the next steps be?

If it’s just that they have named me as the keeper (occupier) as its in my possession, do I then just act as the keeper with regards to the letter I send to them and not name anyone as the driver?

As we have said how can they name you as the driver? Send the templates as is. You are way overthinking and over complicating this.

I have a company car ... anyone employed by the company with a full driving licence (and with permission) is insured to drive it on the company insurance. I'd be surprised if your situation was much different.

I’m not overthinking it, just mis understood something that’s all. I was understanding the keeper as the person/company that own the vehicle.

    Simple.
