Direct download of updated printer driver

I'm just downloading/updating Sierra from Mavericks.
I'm aware that the printer software/driver will need an update as my Epson DX4450 (ancient but still functioning well) was already an updated driver etc for Mac.
Epson do have the Sierra downloads for Mac on their website. This is a direct download which is sitting in my download file
I'm just not sure what to do first with it or in which order.
This old model isn't wireless but usb connected.
any help would be appreciated

Well, it seems to have sorted itself out. Printing straight away after Sierra download and I'm assuming the computer recognised the new driver download.0
