    By what mechanism ?

I think there ought to be some kind of regulation for posting arrears, like a Letter Before Claim is required before going to court.
There doesn't seem to be ; but I don't see the benefit to the firm of being paid later.

Surely that mechanism is called a statement?

If people can't be bothered to read that, it's unlikely they'll pay attention to any other correspondence.

    Stupid and beyond belief

I really believe the op has directed this comment to Very and not his wife.

    At least I hope so.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Does anyone know what credit agency Very use to credit search a potential customer.

    Little confused.

Arrears meaning that she has a ballence on her account left at the end of the month or arrears meaning that she has a late payment marker or default against her?

If the first then a little hot headed I feel, I hope your wife isn't a victim to the same level of anger.

Unless you have other financial issues, which by using Very you may. A £6.99 ballence on an account which is cleared the following month will have absolutely no baring and if anything will show that you re paying your bills.

Remember to ignore the credit agencies score they are a made up number to get you to pay £14.99 a month to review it daily and watch the score go up and down for no reason other than to keep you paying the money, it's the history and only the history that counts.

VERY's search appears on my EQUIFAX search history (via Clearscore), but not in my history on Experian (MSE credit club) or Call Credit (Noddle).

The search features as SHOP DIRECT FINANCE COMPANY LTD

For your info, and anyone else who may be curious of this.

I have been accepted and got £20 off the item as a new customer. Also they were the cheapest for this item on the market. However must remember about the delivery charge being paid on time.

I opened an account in July as they were the cheapest for a new tumble dryer we were after.

We were lucky enough to receive a Promotional Discount £30.00

    Timing, I guess :T

Its unusual because catalogues, especially shop direct ltd, are normally 20-30% higher priced than other online retailers.

I guess in today's market they reel you in with a cheap offer, then offer you the dreaded "BNPL" deals that so many fall foul of.

Thats their top money making product, and there core business.

    UPDATE.
Well that did not go well for us. Received the item yesterday and we fiddled about with it trying to get the usb cable to fit into the two ports and just would not go. Ending up returning the item same day so now will go into Halfords and buy the item and will get them to check its all ok before leaving. Oh well its going to cost an extra £17 but well worth it.
