I thought everywhere took maestro? I have used it for years (also whilst it was switch) with no issues.

You won't pay interest on a credit card if you pay off straight away.
Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month
  • yer a couple of sites dont like the archos site, and other sites very annoying as i have money but cant spend it :(

any one know any good credit carsd i should get?
  • Try the &more card from Marks and Spencers. I was 18 when i got accepted, I said my earnings were £7,000 per year (which they are around)

I found it impossible for anyone else to give me a credit card.

Have you tried capital one, they gave me a card, only with a 500 limit but that is more than enough for online shopping... ebay, etc etc.

I have to say I had a Visa Electron before it was changed to a barclays 'connect' card...

I never had any problems buying anything online with the electron card, a lot of sites you just have to list it as a 'Visa' when going through the online check-out..... other sites will have a seperate box for Visa Electron, and OK a few sites wont take it at all..

but most the big sites take Electron.....

If you have the money in the bank to cover it and just need something that's accepted online you could just change your bank account to one that issues a Visa Delta debit card.

Credit Cards offer some additional security with larger purchases but being pragmatic the bank may be the simplest option.

The best place to get a 'first credit card' is probably your own bank.

After you have that, you can then look for other credit cards.

If you are planning to buy lots of things from overseas, then look into getting a Nationwide or Post Office credit card.

can't you get a visa debit card with the nationwide current account - this should be avaliable to most people. Everywhere online will take Visa, and you get free spending abroad (cash withdrawals from ATMs etc) with the account. Everyone should get this account i think
