Slightly disingenuous of the Judge, as be definition, he and his colleagues would only normally be involved in cases where there are abuses or conflict.
I agree that PoAs are not perfect and that the way they are promoted by the government, which includes suggesting that people can do them without legal advice, is not ideal and does lead to problems, but deputyship, which is the alternative, has its own problems, not least the expense and delay.
My own view it that it would be more appropriate to provide some better safeguards for the use of PoAs, but anything effective is likely to increase the cost.
I think part of it is being careful about who you appoint as your attorney, ensuring that you have more than one, and considering whether having a professional as one attorney is appropriateAll posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
