British Gas Service Agreement

Hi, I am hopin to move on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My move is being held up by ME, I put on the fittings/fixtures etc contract, that I have a Service Agreement with British Gas.
Fairplay i have one. But can I find it. NOPE. So now i'm getting questions about it from my buyers solicitors. Which is fine as I've said I've got it.
I went through a bit of a "identity fraud" day and burnt all paper work. I am presuming i burnt this as I can not find it anywhere.
I have a letter from british gas dated 30th Aug stating:
Thank you for continuting to trust BG to look after your central heatign system.
We have enclosted a schedule of payments for the coming year. As you pay by DD you can relax, your agreement continues automatically. you don't need to do anything. With Home Care 200..............
Do you think this will be enough evidence or am i looking at getting out a BG engineer again and getting re serviced.
YEP, I know this is all my own fault for throwing away the paper work..... i didn't think i was going to move this year, i just fell in love with a house.
I have called BG. Yep apparently they'll contact someone, who will contact another dept who will send it!!!!!
help any advice.
will they accept this letter which says I do have the contract so the boiler etc must be okay
Thanks for reading this.

To be honest, I would have thought that'd be suitable.
Do you know anyone else with a service contract? If so perhaps get a copy of the part that says they'll do a yearly service or whatever (or even print it off their website if possible), and provide it with the paperwork you do have stating you have a contract?
You should be able to get more documents off BG but you don't know how long it will take, especially if they have to contact some other team to get it done.
Forgive me for being a bit vague, as I don't know much about service contracts, but I hope that might set your solution in motion.0 -
Hi,
You are with British Gas Homecare - when did you last have a safety inspection done? If it is approaching a year they will book an engineer for you who will provide you with an up to date inspection report detailing any service that has been carried out.
I use them and when I move in a few weeks am transferring the agreement over to my new property. They will do me a new safety inspection then, even though I just had an inspection this week in my current property. It's not going to cost me more than the monthly charge I pay already. My Homecare agreement really paid off last year when I had a major problem on Dec 23rd but they sorted it out really quickly and saved Xmas. Can't praise them highly enough.0 -
Does it matter? As you haven't paid for a year upfront, the buyers won't be getting anything included with the house, as when you stop your DDs the cover will cease.
The usual reason for that question is for when you have a prepaid contract or a warranty which will then have some value for the buyer, I can't see that this will have.0 -
That should be good enough as that's what I supplied to my buyer's solicitor & have had no complaints about needing any other paperwork to back up my having the service contract.
Also, as you have an existing contract, if you haven't had the boiler serviced this year, you could get the engineer out to do so before you move & that will put the buyer's mind at rest should there be any concerns. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
