Returning part of online order

I bought a few things from an online retailer; one bigger item which turned out to be not as described, and 2 smaller things which I would have not bought otherwise due to delivery charges. I want to return the main item. Do I have the right to claim back original delivery charges if sending back just part of the order? If not, can I return the whole order on the grounds that part of it is not as described and therefore get the delivery charges back?

If you keep part of the order you have no rights to receive the delivery charges back. You need to return the whole order for that.

If some of the goods conform and some do not you have the option of:
1) Keeping all the goods
2) Rejecting all the goods
3) Keeping the goods that conform and rejecting the goods that do not.

If any goods form a commercial unit, you have to reject the entire unit. A commercial unit would be where perhaps you buy a table & 4 chairs as a set which has 1 price for all 5 items.
