How to get oak worktops to look similar to hickory?

Hi,
We have just bought some oak worktops to go with our appalachian hickory laminate flooring. Now ideally we would like them both to look quite similar in colour which would mean having to stain the worktops.
Firstly, is this even possible? If so does anyone have any ideas as to how to do this. We have bought the danish oil but not sure about stains.
Please note this is the first time we have done this so please don't hate!!
