Built in wardrobes - Modular storage

Our new house has built in wardrobes and we would like to modify them to have some modular storage solution, adjustable shelving and racks etc. I had in mind something like this http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/storage-furniture/storage-systems/algot-wall-upright-shelves-rod-white-spr-19165152/
The problem is the system is made from plastic and I have my doubts about whether it would hold the necessary weight, there are other solutions out there which seem fairly expensive. To my mind I could make my own using this type of stuff: http://www.screwfix.com/p/rb-uk-twin-slot-uprights-white-1400-x-25mm-2-pack/56901
I would have liked to have been able to get some clothing hanger rails that mount into this type of set up (like you see in shops) I wondered if anyone knew where I might be able to buy such a thing. My backup plan is to make my own shelves an attach the rail to the bottom of them, but if a ready made solution exists cheaply I would prefer that.

Algot is metal supports with wooden shelves.
We just used it for under the stairs cupboard to store loads of tools on.0 -
Also in our cupboards we used modular boxes from b&q. Ikea have similar boxes.
Just get any rail to attach for hanging up clothes.0 -
I was looking at it in Ikea yesterday and the ones they had were plastic wall mounted rails and plastic shelf brackets0

The product you've linked to is made from powder coated galvanised steel. It says so in the description.0

I hadn't noticed that before, I looked at it on the web before going to Ikea and was going to buy it assuming it was metal, when I found it in the store the shelf brackets were certainly plastic because when I picked it up I was able to bend it and I ain't strong enough to do it with galvanised steel. Not sure if they have swapped it out for plastic version or what but the one in my store didn't look up to the job. Now I'm confused, maybe I need to go back and find out what the deal is.0 -
I was just about to create a post asking the exact same thing!
Hope you don't mind me jumping on.
We don't have a new build but fairly modern and has those standard built in wardrobes that most new builds have with a shelf too high to see anything and then just a clothes rail.
I'd really love to be able to have some modular storage, drawers and a slide out shelf like the IKEA Pax range. I'm wondering if I can just fit these into our existing wardrobes is that possible does anyone know?0 -
I don't know about the PAX system, I have seen them as complete units, but like the Algot range it seems that you can buy some of the base unit systems and some add on items but not a completely build your own system which is more what I had hoped to get, this could be my failure at understanding the Ikea website again
