Admiral charging to change address

Hi,
Just changed my address with my car insurance, we now live in a nicer area and still leave it on the driveway at night etc, they have said that it will incur a charge of £69.94 which includes a £19.50 admin fee (which I was expecting). But I'm just apalled at the increase in my insurance! They said they base it on theft in the area and how many people have had accidents! I don't know if there's anything I could do just need a rant I think haha

It's up to the insurer what they deem as more risky or not.

Do you have any data to prove that there's fewer accidents in the new area?

Moving to a wealthier area with houses with more valuable contents and more likely to suffer larger losses......

  • And nicer cars too ...
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • But, not all insurers view all postcodes as the same risk. So make sure you hunt around before renewal ...
I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.

Maybe you have moved into the poster than was on here a while back. They made something like 8 claims within 2 years and their insurer would no longer insure them.

Claimed for a trolley dink, chipped windscreen, then several other minor dinks because they said there was no excess. True or not who knows but there are people that will claim for tiny dinks instead of getting them fixed.

Never thought of it might be because we've moved into a nicer area etc still haven't got an expensive car though! Haha. I just thought I would pay an admin fee and that would be it, over the year it's not that much more expensive but could do without paying more or at least them letting me know before that it may change! Thanks for all your replies!!
