Fixing cracks in asbestos wall panel in a garage

Hi!
We have bought a house and it has a pretty old garage with asbestos walls and roof. I am planning to replace it eventually but it will take couple of years to save for a new one.
Meanwhile, I would like to make sure that any asbestos relevant risk is minimised.
There are several cracks on the walls and previous owners have used thick masking tape to cover them, then painted over. This has been done a long time ago and in some places the tape has came off or peeling.
I would like to replace the tape but not sure what is the best way to have the problem solved. Should I go the same way and reapply the tape? Or use some other material?
I need some inexpensive solution but it should last couple of years and be safe.
Thank you!

Painting with PVA adhesive is a good way to seal it.0

As unforeseen says above - or just around the cracks. Just for the avoidance of doubt, don't bother taping it.
An alternative is to paint it with exterior paint, this will also protect it but if further damage occurs you will see it easier and can touch it up.
If you use a brush - throw it out when your finished, do not attempt to clean / re-use.YNWA
