Post Office Banking

Hi there,

Just a quick query this time.

I was wondering if you could help me.

I need to pay my caravan site for a gas bottle tomorrow, I can't do it online as I've blocked myself and I need the gas delivered tomorrow. They bank with HSBC.

Is it possible for me to visit my post office tomorow (open Sunday) and pay it in to their account that way? If so, how long does that then take to clear?

Will the gas bottle person take cash or cheque or even contactless ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • I live miles away from the site and I'm not down there at present. My family are and so that's why I need to sort it at a distnace.

To make a cash deposits at the post office require to slot the card for that account into the machine.
Payments in: Yes - with card

They are using the gas, why can't they pay for it?

Or pay into a family members account and tell them to pay cash for it on site . And then unblock the site
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

?In my experience (not of HSBC) you need a pre-printed deposit slip to pay into a bank account at a post office and then it's only your own bank account. Some Post Offices still operate the Giro/Transcash service for bill payments.

Why does it have to be the Post Office? Why not a bank transfer through any bank branch?

In my experience of owning three static caravans in France the gas bottle is replaced by the gas service when it runs out. I don't need to specifically order it. Might be good to check on the site services where your caravan is.

    How about :
    Western Union
    Moneygram
    A Natwest "Get Cash" code
    Barclays Pingit
If they use Pay & Go mobiles, the voucher number

Also open a Tesco bank account, so you can get money into the banking system at very odd hours.
