Opinions please, can spraying brass door furniture chrome be successful

We have quite a few tarnished gold coloured indoor door handles and think I might be unsuccessful in buying the same size in chrome. Just wondering, as seen the spray cans in wilkos if spraying them with primer and then a coat of two of the chrome spray will work, or will they not be very hard wearing.

I've no idea if they would work or not - but what have you got to lose? It's possible that the spray may wear off over time revealing the 'gold' underneath.
We had a brass-effect fire-surround on an otherwise pleasant fire, and we decided to spray it black. We used spray paint intended for use on car exhausts, so we knew it would be able to withstand the heat from the fire. It's been like that for 3 years now, and has started to wear away on the area that you touch to access the controls. An easy enough fix, and if we have to do it every 3 years so be it - it's still an improvement on the brass colour. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
No, will not work..... Even if it sticks, it won't be hard wearing enough and will eventually peel off in your hands.
Screwfix would be a good place to start looking for new handles, they have a wide selection from modern to old school.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

For a good result, they would need to be electro-plated ; costing more than new ones.0

In a word, "No"0

I was looking at the idea of getting some grey painted door fittings chrome plated, shockingly expensive!0

If you can live with the told you might be able to restore them - clean and polish, then give them a few coats of laquer or clear coat to stop them tarnishing again.0

Why not just polish up in existing door fixtures if they are just tarnished??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Thanks for the advice, decided to go against it, I'll have a look in screwfix catalogue. Wanted a change to chrome to match most things we have in the house.0
