Small claims court - where will case be heard?

I am about to make a claim against a garage for selling a used car that had repair work to the body that was not disclosed at the time of purchase and not completed satisfactorily. The car is just 3 years old and very low mileage ( 12000). I have asked for compensation to rectify the faults. The problem is the garage is 200 miles away from where I live. Will a court hearing be at a court near my home or where the business is situated?

Advice welcome.

If a consumer is involved, he usually gets to choose the court.

Is the garage you are suing operating as an individual (sole trader) or a company?

If you are suing an individual, the case will be allocated to his home court. This will happen despite the fact that he is running a business and you are a consumer.

If you are suing a company, the case will be allocated to your home court.

Have you actually given the garage the opportunity to fix the issue or provide you with a refund? If you haven't done this the case will be dismissed anyway.
