Can I purchase a laptop in the US and expense it to my UK Ltd Company?

I am a freelance graphic designer who runs my own UK limited company and I need a new laptop for work as mine has just died. I'm in the states at moment, if I purchase it here in the US, will I have any issues claiming it against my UK company expenses?

You should declare it on entry to the UK and pay possibly duty and VAT. If you're VAT registered and the invoice is to your business I imagine you would be able to include the VAT in your return. If you're not registered you need to work out if it still makes sense financially to buy it in the US.

Duty rates can be found here

    https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff

It looks like the commodity code is 84713000 with 0% duty

A big issue will be whether you will be covered by a warranty in the UK - you don't want to be sending it back for repairs. Apple I think offer worldwide warranty repairs carried out locally but other companies may only offer repairs where it was purchased.

Recently you said you worked for and were paid weekly by an agency.

Perhaps the OP has contracted the limited company to the agency?
