Online purchase- pizzerialaeuropea.es

Hi,

My girlfriend purchased a pair of shoes from the following website: pizzerialaeuropea.es
However, the shoes that arrived are a fake pair of Jimmy Choos from China, rather than the Irregular Choice she ordered. All attempts to contact the website have failed. She didn't pay by PayPal, just entered her debit card details. Where can we go from here?
I've searched online but cannot find anything about this website other than a link to their page. Has anyone else been unfortunate enough to purchase from this website or similar?

Your best bet is to read MSE's Chargeback article, but be warned they may ask you to return the goods before refunding.

Get her to contact her bank and request a chargeback for goods not as described.

And perhaps also educate her on the rule "if it sounds/looks too good to be true, it usually is".

Signs to look out for a scam website (not definitive but as a rough guide):
    No phone number
    No registered business address
Only means of communication via webform
No T&C's (or so minimal, they may as well have no T&Cs)
Offering brand name goods much cheaper than reputable retailers
A domain name that has absolutely no connection to what they're selling (this one i imagine translates to the pizza restaurant of europe)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Why did she buy from a Spanish website?
  • Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if a Chargeback would be an option. I have a feeling this may have to be put down to a life lesson in the end though.
She's normally pretty savvy when it comes to online shopping and only buys from reputable websites. However, this was a pair of shoes she's been after for a while and as she has tiny feet, finds it difficult to find ones in her size and these came up for a reasonable price.
I do find it odd that a company would go to the hassle of sending out obvious fake items in place of what was ordered, rather than just pocketing the cash and running.

To be honest how many Spanish pizzerias sell Jimmy Choos? I'm sorry if she loses money but surely people must think before they buy from unknown companies?
  • How many funky birds are known for selling greetings cards? The name of the website does not have to bear any resemblance to what they are selling.
Comments about how it was a silly idea to purchase off an unknown website are not useful. What is useful is giving advice on how to sort it out. People make mistakes, sometimes it's nice to be helpful rather than judgemental.

Is your girlfriend Spanish? If not, why would she buy from a Spanish site whose content is in Spanish?

It might not be useful or helpful to your girlfriend as she has already made the mistake but if the comments in question stop another person from buying from a scam website, those comments will most certainly be helpful.

Its fairly clear that Funky Pigeon is a brand name. Nobody is looking at that site wondering if they sell pigeons or pigeon accessories.
