Burglar Alarm Won't Stop Beeping

I recently moved into a house with a Burglar Alarm. Unfortunately I have no manuals for the alarm.

I just had a power cut and it won't stop beeping.

The display alternates between reading:

- PA ALARM 07
- Call Engineer to reset system

How can I stop it? What sort of engineer to I need? The panel doesn't have a number or brand name on it.

I pressed in my alarm code and then pressed escape. I did that because of this manual, which may or may not be for my alarm:

    http://www.ashley-security.co.uk/download/user-manuals/TS690R%20User%20Manual.pdf

    The alarm now says:

    User menu 1
    Select option:-

I don't know what to do next.
  • Looking at the photo of the circuit board, it looks like there is a volume adjustment for the piezo buzzer that will be beeping.
Thid adjuster is marked VR1 and in the pic it is on the top left of the board.
Use an insulated screwdriver or a trimmed down bit of wood or plastic and turn the inside of the adjuster fully anti-clockwise.

This wont fix the problem but should help make the noise less noticeable until you get it sorted out.

What leads you to suppose it is your manual? Some clue on the cover maybe or the external sounder? If you have reached the point of User Menu 1, just keep pressing Esc until the display shows Open. Normally there is a RESET button which you press after an event. Insert your code and press reset after the alarm has been tripped, the tamper switch has been activated or there has been a power cut.

Somewhere should be the main control unit which you might be able to find a manual for.
The OP posted a link to the (well A) manual but did say it might not be his particular alarm. He also posted pictures to the keypad and the main alarm.

The pictures look like the front and rear of the remote keypad to me rather than the main panel.

It may well be that the system's rechargeable batteries are poor and weren't able to sustain it fully for the length of the power cut.

The panel will have an "engineer" code as well as your user's code. However unless you know what that is.....

Even then, although it would no doubt get rid of the beeping sound it won't stop it happening again next time there is a power cut.

Most towns have one or more independent alarm maintenance companies and you would probably be best to make contact with one and get the system serviced and, if need be, the batteries replaced.

OK, can see that, mind you, that's an awful lot of PCB and "stuff" just for a keypad.
