As a wildcard how about Selby? Regular buses and trains to York and Leeds, stay away from anything in the Flaxley road or abbots road areas though.

Due to the nightmare which are Leeds roads in rush hour being near a railway station is a real bonus.

If I had a partner working in york and a job in weetwood i would be looking for somewhere as near to the station as possible. I would imagine prices in york would be a lot higher than leeds generally as it is a tourist city like bath - a bit like comparing bristol and bath!

We live in Tadcaster. There's no station so you're reliant on buses and there's no direct bus to Weetwood, you'd have to go into the middle of Leeds and change. There are trains close by (e.g. garforth) but again you're struggling for links to there. I love living here, but for what you need with your reliance on public transport I think you're struggling.

Those suggesting York - York house prices are higher than Leeds house prices, obviously area specific variations but still.

    Good luck with it :-)
