Any current Car Scrappage schemes?
I just thought i'd ask if there were any current Car scrappage schemes running at the moment?
I believe the government one, was stopped a few years back.
I have done a bit of googling and found a scrappage scheme with Vauxhall at the moment, but obviously that means either trading in/buying a Vauxhall model..
My car is old,(15 years) but runs fine and have been thinking of upgrading.
As it isnt worth much, I could probably get more on a scrappage scheme should one be suitable or a minimum cash buy back/trade-in?
Thank you for any help

dealer led scrappage schemes are obviously just a sales gimmick. What makes you think otherwise?0

I'm trying to summon magical number pixies to make a BMW i3 cheaper - it's not working at the moment, but it seems that BMW are about to (this month) give an allowance (not scrappage) of up to €2,000 across Europe against any LOW emission BMW if you give them a Euro IV compliant, or older, diesel. You'll probably need to have owned the car for at least a year.
You're probably still better putting it on Gumtree or something and getting a 'straight sale' on the new car though.0 -
I will give you £50 off any car you purchase and i will scrap your car for you.

Sounds fair to me.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Scrappage boilers, scrappage double glazing. Guilible.
I tried explain get to a colleague that outside the government scheme from 2009 it's all a con, I failed, massive depreciation on the new Vauxhall Corsa she bought.0 -

"Guaranteed minimum 2K part exchange!" = "Guaranteed prices 2K higher than before this scheme!"
I think deep down people know that, same goes for the £500 cash back or the years free fuel...... Most people know it's BS, but at the end of the day it's great socially acceptable excuse for indulging in a new car. For people who feel the need to make excuses that is.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If your current car is a diesel then if you hang on to it for a while a scrappage scheme may well come along.0

My local Ford dealer has a "scrappage deal" at the moment. Up to £2000 off, but less on the cheaper models. No requirement for the old car to be a Ford.
But that will be instead of any other deal you might have been able to negotiate, not in addition. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

vauxhall will give you £2000 off a full prices RRP vauxhall you might have take their finance as well ........you'd get a discount if walked in with cash....you'd get a very cheap car if you waited 9-12 months and bought a pre registered vehicle
If your cars 15 yrs old and running fine why change it ......the most expensive option above is the scrappage scheme0 -

There are no deals to negotiate, you can do your best to get down to the actual retail price, but that's all. Salesmen "negotiate" their commission, not the price of the vehicle.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
