Steering pump failed - Ford - Kwik Fit

Hi,
Just over 4 months ago I had a new steering pump fitted to a Ford Mondeo by Kwik Fit.
This was the second pump that I have had fitted by them. The first one was fitted just before an MOT. By the time of the next MOT, it had failed sufficiently to fail the MOT. Because it was 1 year plus a few days since fitting, Kwik Fit said that it was out of warranty.
The steering pump is now, judging by the noise, failing again after only 4 months.
Hopefully I won't get any arguments from Kwik Fit but, just so that I am clear before I speak with them, I wondered if anybody could please advise on the following:
1) Because Kwik Fit supplied and fitted the pump, am I correct in thinking that I will not have to pay any labour costs to have it replaced?
2) Once it is replaced, should the time on the warranty and any statutory rights reset, or do they continue to be calculated from when the current pump was fitted?
3) Is there anything else I shoud be aware of when I speak with them?
Any help would be much appreciated.

So they fitted a rubbish pattern pump, shafted you on the warranty when it failed and then you let them fit another one?
No wonder they are still in business
1 You are correct
2 No they don't but the item must still be of merchantable quality

Thanks.
I did give them a call today and, at least over the phone, they didn't quibble. Hopefully things will go as smoothly at the garage.
As for the pumps themselves I have read on Ford forums that it is a very common problem with cars of a certain vintage. Even though there are large numbers of reported cases, it seems that Ford have refused to admit that there is any pattern.
Hopefully this replacement will go OK, but I expect to be back for another in a year or so, at best.0 -
Cars don't have any kind of "venting" system to cool the engine. It's just air coming in the front to cool a radiator which is sometimes assisted by the fan. I can't see how them changing the breaks, battery or tyres could cause the car to overheat unless they were extremely incompetent.
There is no excuse for you to not know about cars and you have already lost atlesst £900 because of this. You really should so some research and learn a little about cars online so you don't get ripped off again.0
