The OP has a slight whiff of luncheon meat about it.

Indeed, just because the post went straight over your head doesn't mean that it is spam!

Hmmm. A link to a site full of pop ups ? Its quite easy to make money on the net really even with open source software. Cash is only a click away.

As for over my head? I've been scripting since Xenix on a 286.

Have a look at prost other posts and search for his sites on google, wiki spam and tell me this isn't spam.

Perhaps you should first tell us how to make money from Open Source.

Members of this forum are always interested in money saving.
  • If it's money saving you're after, why pay for your Linux distro?
Just download it free from http://distrowatch.com/ which is where most people go to get their next copy.

Personally, for someone who has never strayed from Windows, I wouldn't reccomend Ubuntu, but go for PCLinuxOS or Freespire, both are true Linux distros, but their desktops are comfortingly like Windows.

(This is not spam by the way!)

    Well the OP recommended Mandriva.

Have a look at the prices, Mandriva seems to making money from OpenSource.

If you want to make money learn how to support Linux and provide services to those who will pay you, or sell CDs with the free stuff on.

By the way the OP didn't actually use his installation with a big monitor he just observes that it can be done. Just who on this site who has the odd £600 for a 1920x1200 monitor and then want to muck about downloading the stuff so they can play an MP3 as it didn't come on the CDROM. Nope, they buy Macs or use Windows. It kind of blows the topic for the post if you don't even manage it yourself.

Have a look at where else he is pushing his blog. It is just a paste post.

Please, persuade me why its not spam? An irrelevant unsolicited post in a forum offering advice (via another website). Contains no topical content, but is accompanied by either spam links in the post itself, or in the user's signature. Prost has had his sig changed by mods and links to his own site with spurious content.

As for posting on a money saving forum, if you want to save money then you may want to download an ISO rather than paying the £4 for it. Or get your mate to do it.

Bit of a strange post this. Can't say for sure whether it's spam or not, but it's odd that the OP doesn't mention that Linux can also be got for free as some of you have pointed out.

jesus_disciple, I've used Mandriva & Ubuntu in the past, but prefer PCLinuxOS & Freespire over them. Presently have PCLinuxOS dual-booting with XP, but my all-time faviourite is Freespire (couldn't resolve a sound issue so removed it some months ago). Use XP much more though. G
