Credit Card Protection for holidays

Was watching a repeat of Rip off Britan and it said if I were to pay even only £1 on credit card it would protect me in event of cancellation of holiday. Travel Co were happy to accept a £1 credit card payment (in addition to 10% deposit on debit card as I won't pay the credit card fee of 2.5%) but said to check with card issuer (NatWest) as sometimes there's a min amount required. NatWest are looking into query as first instance they don't know! Does anyone know if this is true? The holiday expert guy on GMB & This morning said it. Grateful for any clarification...

Go back onto the main site and read the Cards and Loan section you find your answers there...
  • Hi - I have been through that - it doesn't mention protection under the Cards & Loans section?

complete a search under section 75 and you may have your answer
  • Hi - many thanks for this. Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 answered my query! Definitely worthwhile putting a small amount on credit card for purchases £100-£30k as credit card comp also liable in the event of a claim with retailer.

But if you're paying through an intermediary, ie a travel agent, of limited value to yourself.

It's no substitute for adequate travel insurance.
