Refund on Camping Tickets

Hi there, 3 days ago I purchased weekend camping tickets for a future date. My husband then informed me that we already have plans for that weekend and therefore, we need to cancel our tickets. I emailed the seller and they said that we are unable to gain a refund. Do I have rights to request a refund? Thank you.

  • You have the right to request a refund always. Whether you have the right to get one is different :)

How was the transaction completed? (eg online, over phone, at traders premises)
    Was there any written communication?

    Makes a difference ....
  • Thanks - sure I meant do I have the right to a refund lol. We purchased the tickets online. I can find nothing to state that we are not entitled to a refund before I purchased the tickets, but when I requested a refund, I received an email back from the seller to say that we are not entitled and then provided me a link to the terms. These terms are not obvious on their site and I was not given this link on the confirmation of purchase.

The legislation is The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Regulation 28 lists those circumstances where a right to cancel is excluded.
    It includes:
    (h) the supply of accommodation, transport of goods, vehicle rental services, catering or services related to leisure activities, if the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.
It is not the seller's responsibility to acquaint you with the laws.

Unless there is something you can find that says you are entitled to a refund, you should assume not in the case of tickets for a specified date.

So unfortunately, you will not be entitled to a refund. Maybe ask if they'd be willing to move to a different date?
  • Thank you for this - makes perfect sense.
