With Halifax ultimate rewards account you get homer emergency cover. The blurb says the below. Does this mean that you could use it for a Combi boiler breakdown?

Covers a sudden unexpected incident to your home which needs immediate action to;
Make it safe or secure and avoid damage or more damage
Make it fit to live in
Restore electricity, gas or water services if they have totally failed
Provides a qualified person chosen by us to deal with the emergency up to £250.
This policy is to deal with ‘home emergencies’ needing immediate attention only and will cover costs up to a maximum of £250. It does not cover broken freezers for example.

Boiler exclusions are shown in the policy summary section contained within the account T&Cs document. I'm assuming yours isn't one of them?

There's further reference to page 105 of the actual policy document.

Out of interest, does anyone know whether it allows you to 'downgrade' from an Ultimate Reward to a Reward online?

The upgrade function seems to generate an error message when you click on upgrade on a Club Lloyds.

It doesn't look like it does, no. On the Reward current account there is an Upgrade button, there's no similar button displayed on the Ultimate Reward account.

Haven't looked in the nitty gritty tbh. Was just wondering if some one has it and used it for this. Just would save for a heating insurance.

To me it's very vague, if I have a burst water pipe does it cover this etc?

The policy summary always is, as with all insurance. You need to look at the full policy document. Ask them for a copy, or find it on the internet.

Don't think they cover damage from a spider pig though.
