Royal Mail delivery problems when it rains!

For years we have always had a brilliant delivery service from Royal Mail, however about 18 months ago our postman retired, then the trouble started.

We get various different posties now, mail delivery time varying from early morning to late afternoon. But the biggest is when it rains. At first I thought it just to be coincidence but after me and my neighbors consulting with eacother on wet days they don't deliver any Mail. Today was another case, woke up saw the rain, just checked with neighbors and again none of us have received any Mail.

Now my understanding was that they have a legal obligation to deliver 6 days a week, come rain or shine. Complaint submitted today, anyone else having similar problems?

Nope.......absolutely slamming it down with me.

on he was in full foul weather gear.
    Poor bloke..........

Nope but boxed package left behind my bins. Needless to say, it was sunny this morning but tipping it down this afternoon. Package is soaked through. Just waiting to hear from DS1 what it was and if it's ruined.

Always get my deliveries pretty much whatever the weather. Really bad snow might hold them up by a day but can't really blame them for that their safety should come first. Although stuff can be a bit soggy if delivered in heavy rain but I'd guess whoever can come up with a practical way to stop that will be a millionaire and postal services all over the world would want to buy into it.

Just a thought though is access to your street particularly slippery when wet? Maybe flagstones that get dangerous as dirt builds up on them and they go slimey? Or maybe somebody lets a dog out to wander the streets and it's not safe for them to pass?

No nothing I can think of like that, it's very odd really.

Same in our village sadly - not necessarily due to weather either. We get post on average 4 days per week. Nothing to do with no post for me. I have a view of the village green from my office window which is where the postie parks the van so I know that some days, he just doesn't come to our village at all. Because I'm a business, I get post (or should do) every day. They never come on a Thursday at all, and the other missing day can be any, but more likely on a Saturday. Complaints have been made by me and many others from the village, but are just ignored by RM.

We NEVER get a delivery on Tuesday. Any Tuesday, every Tuesday. We generally have the same rural postie and every Tuesday is a shift change/holiday date. In 12 years I have had 2 deliveries on a Tuesday. One was a special delivery and the other was pile of mail delivered by a random stand-in postie who gave me the mail for 18 or so properties (we are miles from the nearest neighbour) and shrugged his shoulders and walked off.

    Tuesday is my rain day.

If the postie didn't come here on rainy days we'd never get any post!
