Aviva - discount for being existing customer but I'm not!

Just done the usual annual check on car insurance prices due to the up and coming renewal. My existing insurer (LV) quoted £228 but that doesn't include courtesy car, which I need to add this year as other car has been given to one of my children. Adding this puts LV up around £250.
So using the usual comparison sites I could get the same cover for around £225. I also checked Aviva and they came in at £223 but this included a 20% discount for being an existing policy holder, which as far as I knew I wasn't. So I fired up the live chat and asked if this discount would be removed if in fact I didn't have any existing policy, live chat said no it wouldn't. I have a transcript of the call just in case.
Called LV to say I wouldn't be renewing and they said OK without even attempting to keep me. Fair enough. I then took the policy with Aviva.
When logging on to check my new policy I can now see why they think I'm an existing policy holder, it says I have private medical insurance through a company scheme, however I left that company almost 2 years ago and have no cover as far as I know.

You are getting lucky due to software limitation. A group scheme will still be active when you cease being a member. So, the policy is in force still at top level even though you are no longer an active member.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Have you had any issues since taking out the policy?
I just found this thread via Google as I've just had the same and the quote is nearly £100 less than any other, including my current insurer, which seems a bit too good to be true!0
