About two months ago, my desktop would not boot in to Windows (10). After multiple attempts at recovery, I thought I would download and run Ubuntu Live from a memory stick (i.e. booting from USB). All worked well, so well that I permanently installed Ubuntu on a new partition and have not thought about going back to Windows.
This weekend, came down to my PC to find it had powered off (normally left on full time). Go to power on, and whilst the fan starts nothing else happens - no manufacturer logo, no bios, nada, zilch. I tried it on both HDMI and VGA, but nothing still.
Has my motherboard likely gone to component heaven (integrated graphics)? PC is about 5 years old, so probably time to upgrade - I can remove the disk and put it in a caddy to get any local files I've not got on my NAS, but was wondering if there are any other checks I can try to postpone the inevitable?

Connect to mains with mains switch OFF; press and hold power button for 20secs; switch on at mains and try power button. Which fan is running? CPU or power supply (or other)? Any beeps at all? Could be power supply. Got a spare you can swap in?If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0

Thanks @grumpycrab will give that a go later. Not sure which fan, will open case and check. No beeps.0

You can also try removing the ram, the hard drive connections etc. (You've said it's integrated graphics so I'm assuming there's no graphics card you can unplug) and see if you get any response from the motherboard, it should detect the missing ram and give you a beep code. If you're still getting absolutely nothing, there's a good chance the motherboard has failed.
