Floyd - you are more likely to get a response if you start your own thread. For the moment: 1) I do not know the answer, 2) it does not matter, either way you will be assessed as if you own the full value of the property, and if that means you lose your benefits then you will. Either giving someone else the right to live in it will have no effect, so you will be considered to own the full value of the property, or by giving your mum's boyfriend (there's no such thing as a common law partner) the right to live in the house, you will have rendered the asset almost worthless, which will be deliberate deprivation, so you will be assessed as if you still owned the full value of the property.
So you should absolutely under no circumstances effectively give the house away for no compensation, because you need the house or the money to live in or on. Don't be bullied.
