Hi everyone, i have a few friends coming over and we decided to visit the lake district.
We really want to try some outdoor activities but also make the most out of the time we'll be spending there.
I really hope I am not too late when it comes to arrange such things as it's peak time and I haven't made any queries yet.
I have been searching for locations and activities that can be done and found that Windermere it's the most popular place.
When it comes to activities, there are some great options, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, hiking etc.
Here's the spec: it will 3-5 people going to the lake district for a day or 2.
I take hiking it's something that can be done for free as I've seen some maps with great routes one can take.
When it comes to activities, has anyone done this before? do I need equipment or is it provided?
how much does it cost?
it will be great if you can share your experience and/or give me some advice on how to plan this.
Thank you!

I live near the Lake District and although the only outdoor activity I do is walking if you do a search on Lake District National Park Authority it gives you an good overview on the Lake District which picks up on outdoor activities you are interested in.
Windermere and Bowness in Windermere are central and have shops, restaurants and boat launches around Lake Windermere from Bowness but it can be very busy in peak summertime-I call it the Blackpool of the Lake District. If you want somewhere quieter Lake Ullswater is a bit more rugged and there are outdoor activity centres dotted on its shores (do a google search on Ullswater kayaking to give you some options) but if you want a lively party scene it's not the right area.
If you want something adventurous try the Via Ferrata challenge at Honister slate mine near Keswick if you have a head for heights!0
