Multi-car insurance

Hi,
I've decided to move out of the parental home eventually and I'm finding that once you do that, car companies seem to think that you never speak to your parents again.

I have had numerous multi-car policies with my mam and dads car on as well as mine and it's brought it down from £1200 to £950 one year and from £835 to £480 the next.
Since then I have moved out and the cheapest quote I'm getting (not multi-car) is £743.
Can you have multi-car even at different addresses? Admiral say intimidate family is allowed at different addresses but the others aren't clear.
If anyone knows, help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you! :money:

Whatever Admiral say, I wouldn't start intimidating your family - it won't help your current insurance issue.
  • Try adding a parent to your own policy, that usually makes it cheaper although logically it would seem that an extra driver ought to make it dearer.

Maybe your new address is a higher risk than where you used to live so you might be stuck with a higher premium.

Recently I found it was cheaper to use two seperate policies than multicar for my own two cars.

    Haha. Times are hard!

@EdGasketTheSecond yeh I had thought about the higher risk address, its only half a mile away too!

I rang a few big ones like Aviva and Churchill and they all say same address so I'll just have to get my own policy!

As mentioned, I've been through that scenario as a parent, and being a named driver on their policies did make a significant difference - and they don't have to be at the same address. It also is useful if you need a hand with car servicing or other messing about to have someone else able to drive the car - so cheaper and occasionally useful, why wouldn't you have a parent as a named driver?
