I can't recommend a specific solicitor.
However, I would suggest that you start by looking at the resolution website (http://www.resolution.org.uk/) to find someone in your area. Many family solicitors offer an initial free appointment or free half hour.
Be aware that you can consent to a divorce (or rather, not defend it) without agreeing to the allegations made in the petition - on the acknowledgment of service form it is very common to respond to the question which asks if you intend to defend the divorce by saying "No" (as you accept the marriage has broken down) but to go on either to say "However, I do not accept the truth of all of the allegations made" or word to that effect.
Allegations made in the divorce petition are not relevant to anything else - they won't affect any financial settlement or arrangements for any children, if your ex wants to raise the same issues in those kinds of proceedings, they would need to raise them separately, and you would have the opportunity to respond. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -

Im not sure what this has to do with divorce, but ultimately a solicitor cant stop your ex from expressing an opinion.0 -

I just mean that if you expect a solicitor to stop your ex spreading lies - it wont happen. Not having a go, just keeping things in perspective.autumnsymphony wrote: »hi. i didn't know what to do at all - or even if i could or should do anything - hence asking for advice which TBagbuss really helped with.

I'm sure that divorce courts everywhere are ringing with unfounded allegations and bitter rantings all day, every day. The judge is only interested in the relevant facts though so is likely to have no regard for whatever it is that your ex is spouting. They will have heard it all before.0
