neilmcl --- can you link me to somewhere that states about giving way to your left and how this applies to the scenario where both vehicles are effectively driving straight on at a crossroads

    (Just for my own curiosity)

    Cheers

Still agree 50/50 is the best outcome regardless
Oops, did I say left, I meant right :o

Sorry, ignore my earlier post, having a busy morning, too many things going on ;)

Thanks for all the Info everyone.

He's contacting his ins company again this morning.

I think it's a case of fighting the right battles and this isn't one of them.

I will advise him to accept 50/50 in the absence of witnesses or evidence that could attribute 100% blame.

He will check about alternative transport and check that they will try and recover half of his excess.

Feel for the poor lad, he was 1 month away from getting 3 years no claims and is only 20, going to get battered at renewal.

    That's life

Compliments to JamoLew for your decent attitude to this. It's quite refreshing compared to the usual "woe is me, I don't like the advice I'm getting so I'm going to argue with everyone who posts" approach.

You're right, life can be a pain sometimes but at least no one's been hurt.

    Thanks for that.

Both drivers are indeed unscathed and walked away from the impact.

Sadly,I think the gents car came off significantly worse than my sons. German cars aren't half built solidly !!

Lesson learnt from both parties hopefully, albeit a slightly expensive one.

50/50 sounds right from the description of the accident circumstances. Once it's agreed, leave it at that. Don't go asking how much the other party are claiming as it will just wind you up.

True, and the insurance never tell you anyway.

But how come whenever you mention a claim on a proposal they always ask you how much it was, which is the one thing you don't know???
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
