Scandisk or Spinrite for windows 10? (graphical)

Anyone remember Scandisk and Spinrite?

Older version of chkdsk but with a graphical layout of what track/cylinder is being checked and it gave you an idea of how good the drive was when it needed to scan a sector several times.

Anyone tried something similar but for modern drives and windows 10?

Thanks

is great for providing quick information on disk state (SMART data).
For sector checking has a graphical layout of sectors but some functions are restricted in the trial version. Give it a go.

    Hi

GRC still have SpinRite 6 as an active item.

But for low level access to a HDD I would use clonezilla and Gparted.
Otherwise I use stuff from Piriform to get SMART reports and defrag.

I have spinrite but it doesnt seem to like windows 10 or UEFI?

Got a windows 10 machine here that failed whilst updating. Managed to get it to complete but im sure it did a chkdsk during a restart. Not a massive drive, under 500GB. But spinrite was not happy and it took 2 hours and didnt complete 1%. No faults with chkdsk though.

I remember spinrite, we had a Tandon at work where over the course of months it would take longer and longer after turning it on each morning before the HDD (50MB MFM disk, I think) would get warm enough to be read from.

Set spinrite on it overnight re-writing every sector and it would be fine again, for a couple of months.
