cant help you on the sofa, but other stuff seemed very expensive on the few visits weve made there.

I ordered two leather sofas last year from FV, and am very happy with them. They were 'cheap' £799 specials for 3 and 2 seater. Wearing well, and the side and legs came off to fit them up the stairs. Delivery men did this and reassembled them, and took away all the packaging too.
  • We have two leather sofas from furniture village and an oak dining table and chairs (both about 3 and a half years old) and we have been very happy with them.

Our sofas were £999 and I think they were far better quality than other sofas I saw for the same price. Our dining suite was in the sale there and been really pleased with that too.

We got 2 leather sofas as well from FV and on my way out saw a lovely cut glass coffee table. It was marked for £149 and OH managed to get it for £79 so it is possible to haggle with them (this was the Chester branch about 3 years ago) Sofas are still going strong (as is coffee table!)

FV do seem expensive. I bought a granite top table a couple of years ago from John Lewis for £150 the same table was being sold in FV for £224. If it's convenient for you to buy from FV then look for a good discount.

    Good luck!
  • hope i am not too late for you - I have bought from them before. I did a good internet search for lowest price then asked them to beat it - which they did by about £20. It may depend on who you get but it is worth trying - and ask for the manager if you don't get any joy straight off. (It saved me hundreds!!) Good luck
  • Hope I'm not too late for you either..!

We have nothing but praise for FV

We bought an ex-showroom bathroom suite from them around a year ago. We haggled the price right down, even though it was heavily discounted, and they delivered when we wanted, exactly on time.

When the internals of the loo decided not to work a couple of weeks ago, we phoned and left a message for customer services and they rang us back (on a saturday too..!) and the new part was delivered 2 days later. Brilliant.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back there for furniture if I need anything in the future. I will of course try and barter with them..!

Furniture Village I guess does seem expensive compared to some perhaps better known (three letter acronym) stores but there does appear to be a difference in the furniture supplied.

I have purchased through Furniture Village and been pleased with the service, even more so when I got a price match agreed.

If you post the details of what it is precisely you want from the store there is a chance that some kind mse forum member might be able to point you in the direction of a suitable trader
